We are working with a high profile NHS organisation who are seeking support with a key appointment for an Interim Improvement Director for Mental Health.
This is a high priority appointment for the organisation, the post holder will have an important role in the transformation and development across Mental Health services and delivery.
The role will start ASAP, be for a minimum of 6 months and be under the CCS NMNC RM6277 Framework.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide strong visible leadership and support to the Mental Health Directorate, in collaboration with the triumvirate leadership team;
- Ensure strategic alignment of mental health services across the organisation and across the mental health sub-directorates;
- Drive through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the Directorate;
- Lead in the transformation and development of new services, improvement of current services, and service re-design;
- Support the delivery of the Trust’s standing as the recognised provider of mental health services in the context of wider ICS developments and the establishment of provider collaboratives;
- This will include the need to influence and negotiate in a multi-agency environment within the health and social care economy, in relation to service and/or funding changes;
- Have an external focus to facilitate greater working across the local Health and Care Community e.g. with CCGs, local authorities, voluntary sector, Police, housing and other provider organisations;
- Lead on the engagement process with relevant strategic stakeholders, ensuring that the strategic vision of the Trust for mental health services is clearly communicated and shared with internal and external partners;
- Influence and negotiate with external agencies where appropriate, to secure additional income for new services and to agree supporting infrastructure;
- Work with Community, Social Care and Academic partners to ensure that delivery plans support the wider healthcare agenda including improvements in equality and access;
- Ensure that the Trust’s mental health services are marketed appropriately to build on the Trust’s reputation, ensure sustainability of services and maximise income;
- Responsible for interpreting legislation, national policy and good practice to develop overall policy and strategy for the Trust in relation to the Mental Health agenda. Setting standards, goals and key performance indicators for the Directorate to monitor progress and provide assurance.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Educated to Masters Level or have equivalent training and experience;
- Significant experience within the Health and Social care sector at senior manager level including responsibility for the strategic planning, service delivery and budgetary control for a large directorate or service;
- Demonstrate a credible track record of working collaboratively with partner organisations;
- Ability to influence and motivate staff to deliver challenging targets;
- Experience in Negotiation with and influencing others; Complex and significant service redesign and a Proven track record of achieving challenging healthcare targets.
