University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
Director of Estates and Facilities
Salary: Competitive (VSM)
Contract Type: Permanent

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching Trusts in the UK with sites in both Coventry and Rugby and rated as ‘GOOD’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Home to some of the most modern facilities in Western Europe, the Trust is renowned for being at the forefront of research and innovation as part of its reputation as a national and international leader in healthcare rooted in our communities.

We employ over 10,000 staff, turnover of £870 million pa, and have 1.7 million patient contacts a year. The Trust comprises over 1,300 beds and 32 operating theatres, running clinical services from a number of sites. We are extremely proud of our employees across our hospital sites, with high quality patient care positioned at the heart of everything we do.
The Trust's vision is to be a national and international leader in healthcare, rooted in our communities. Our organisational strategy "More than a hospital" outlines how we intend to achieve this vision and includes an array of exciting capital programmes including the development of our Rugby St. Cross site and expanding the range of services we will provide in community settings.

As our Director of Estates and Facilities you will lead the delivery of all strategic and operational Estates and Facilities functions to the Trust, working in partnership with our PFI contractor. You will be responsible for a PFI contract with annual spend of circa £112 million. In addition, you will manage a circa £10 million direct budget for Estates and Facilities, ensuring high quality and affordable hard and soft FM support services are available to our patients, staff, and the public.
You will work closely with the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer in the development and management of the estates related elements of these programmes and maintain the masterplan and strategic vision for the built environment. You will also be responsible for leading the Trust in its strategic ambition to be a net zero organisation working with partners, local organisations/suppliers to ensure the effective delivery and management of services whilst ensuring environmental impact is reduced.

As a driven and influential leader, you will have an excellent track record in leadership and contract negotiation and long-term contractual management, gained working as a senior manager in a large complex organisation.  You will be experienced in addressing complex challenges, with the ability to work in partnership across boundaries and inspire teams to deliver the best possible services to all our patients, staff, and local communities.

In return we can offer a unique opportunity to work with an experienced Leadership Team within an innovative organisation, where we will support and mentor you to reach your full potential.
