We're working with a large NHS Acute Trust in the South West of England who are seeking a Deputy COO to provide operational grip leading Urgent and Emergency Care across multiple sites and to ensure effective flow and discharge.

Reporting to and deputising for the Chief Operating Officer concerning Urgent and Emergency Care, you will be working closely with the divisional teams to ensure the safe and effective day to day operations are maintained. This role is a critical contributor to delivery of the Trust's strategic plan, by working in partnership with the divisional teams, external organisations and healthcare system partners to ensure the trust meets its performance obligations concerning flow both in and out of the hospital. The service includes a specialist regional tertiary centre in its range of Emergency Departments.

Essential experience:

  • Strong leadership experience demonstrated at Divisional Director, Deputy COO or Chief Operating Officer level within large complex NHS Acute environments, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Expertise of leadership across Emergency Care, Medicine and a strong delivery track record of the associated national access targets.
  • Significant experience of partership working to ensure patient flow.

Inside IR35, this is 6 month contract remunerated at Band 9. It is anticipated that you will be on site 4 days per week with the 5th day potentially remote working.
