Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) is a forward-thinking, ambitious organisation and we are seeking a new Chief Executive.

As an experienced board level executive, you will bring a track record of leading transformation and change in complex organisations of comparable scale. With the ability to build trusted relationships and inspire an inclusive culture where staff feel empowered and supported, you will have the gravitas to lead and influence others in a highly unionised and emergency ambulance setting, and with a wide range of partners and communities.

YAS covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities. We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live. As an anchor organisation linking the three ICSs of the Yorkshire Health economy, we set ourselves the highest standards, creating a culture shaped by compassionate leadership, common values, and a shared vision. We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven days a week, emergency and healthcare service. With a strong track record of innovation and continuous improvement, and as part of our ongoing development, we are now progressing a major organisational and cultural transformation programme that will seek to embed clinical leadership and provide an efficient and effective model of integrated care. This will also enhance the Trust’s work with health and care partners across our three Integrated Care Systems (Humber & North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire), as we seek to progress system collaboration.

We value and promote inclusivity and diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and appointments made on merit. We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from the black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people who we know are under-represented in executive roles in our sector.

For a discussion about the role please contact Martin Havenhand, YAS Chair via Odette Colgrave on 07500 570429
