Join us and lead a remarkable Public Health Network across Local Authorities in an Innovative Integrated Care System.
The Berkshire local authorities of Bracknell Forest and The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead as well as Frimley ICS, are revolutionising the landscape of public health within our Integrated Care System. Spanning two local authorities and within the Frimley ICS, this role is strategically positioned to infuse public health principles at System, Place and Neighbourhood levels.
We are wholeheartedly committed to fostering collaboration and cohesive efforts, building on our distinctive history of shared public health services. We've established this new role to refine our focused model and set it into dynamic action.
Our vision involves director-led public health teams in each Local Authority, with opportunities to share some services including health protection and health intelligence across a wider system Geography. Our aspiration is to further develop this model, enhancing joint commissioning services where it is beneficial to do so and shared resources.
Both Councils embrace agile/hybrid working but when you are office based this will either be at the Bracknell Forest Council Office (Time Square) or at the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead. Even though we embrace remote working, our team remains cohesive, engaging in regular virtual meetings and maintaining close collaboration with partner organisations spanning local government, the NHS, and the voluntary and community sector.
The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:
Spearhead the development of the public health system across Bracknell Forest and The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to enhance residents' health and well-being, mitigate health inequalities, and safeguard local communities from health threats such as infectious diseases and environmental hazards.
Collaborate with public health teams across East Berkshire, Surrey, and Hampshire to ensure a cohesive public health input into the Frimley Commissioning Collaborative and ICS.
Support Chief Executives and Councillors in crafting the delivery arrangements for public health's statutory functions and the strategic agendas of both Local Authorities.
Act as the chief officer and principal adviser on public health to the two Councils, local partners, and communities.
Operate strategically as a member of corporate management teams and partnership boards, ensuring that health and well-being plans are in place while influencing policy and practice.
We offer the following benefits:
• Regular opportunities for professional development.
• An inclusive and collaborative working environment.
• Flexible work arrangements, including a flexi-time scheme.
• Convenient office location near transportation links and a revitalized town centre in Bracknell.
• Internal sports and social club opportunities.
• Discounts on leisure centre and gym memberships.
• Supermarket discounts.
• Interest-free loan for a rail season ticket.
We are seeking an inspirational leader who can galvanise our innovative public health model and our network of public health teams and partners. You should be registered as a Public Health Specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC) or the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR), possessing a high level of expertise and the ability to convey this knowledge effectively within and beyond our system. You must have a proven track record of driving positive change in population health and addressing health disparities. Additionally, you should be a persuasive communicator capable of inspiring and motivating actions across organisations, even without direct authority.
