Leeds
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe, a regional and national centre for specialist treatment, a renowned biomedical research facility, and the local hospital for the city of Leeds. The Trust plays an important role in the training and education of medical, nursing, allied healthcare professions and dental students, along with our extensive apprenticeship programme and it is a centre of world-class research and innovation, pioneering new treatments.
We treat 1.7 million patients every year, including more than 200,000 emergency attendances. The Trust has a turnover of £1.7 billion and employs more than 22,000 staff in seven hospitals on five sites. We work with academia and industry to play a leading role in education, research and innovation. As well as being a key partner in the West Yorkshire ICB, Leeds Place and the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts, where we are working with partners and citizens to integrate services and ensure they meet the needs of our vibrant and diverse communities. Our new state-of-the-art hospitals building programme, Hospitals of the Future, is a huge investment in the healthcare of our patients that also supports the development of an Innovation Village for Leeds, evidence of our ambitious long-term strategy.
We are seeking a new Executive Director of Finance to join our Trust Board and to further our vision to provide the highest quality specialist and integrated care. It is an opportunity to provide vision, direction, and inspirational leadership to support the Trust in achieving its strategic objectives, bridging the gap between sound financial management and service development. You will work closely with the Leeds Place, West Yorkshire ICB and NHSE, cultivating stakeholder relationships and driving cultural improvement for seamless service delivery through the Leeds Improvement Method. Upholding 'The Leeds Way' values is central to our culture - you'll inspire confidence, support our people and contribute to our patient-centred approach. We are seeking an inspirational, compassionate, improvement-focused and inclusive leader who is already operating at board level in a large complex health provider or system, or possibly sub-board if in a major university teaching hospitals trust with tertiary services and established academic links. You will offer a depth of understanding of our services and the risks and the opportunities that we face. You will be creative, innovative, and work inclusively to drive improvement, and you will bring a successful track record of leading a modern, progressive and strategically enabling finance function.
You will bring a passion for reducing inequalities, valuing diversity and for empowering staff at all levels, maintaining our position as an employer of choice. An exceptional communicator with a high degree of political acumen, you will quickly forge trusted relationships with our stakeholders and be skilled in creating effective partnerships working across organisational boundaries locally, regionally, and nationally. With a proven track record for embedding research and education at the heart of an organisation, you will be ready to take the opportunities for commercial growth and innovation.
