Following a highly successful tenure, our current Chair, Ingrid Barker, will end her term in April 2024. As a result, there is an opportunity arising for someone who shares our passion for high quality mental health, learning disabilities and community health services, along with our vision and values, to lead us into the next phase of our evolution.

We are intent on delivering the ambitious aspirations set out in our five-year strategy, ‘Better Care Together – With You, For You’. In achieving our mission of ‘Enabling People to Live the Best Lives They Can’, we are committed to delivering excellent, high quality services for the people of Gloucestershire.

Building on our positive CQC inspection in 2022 which rated the Trust as ‘Good’ we want to further transform our services by co-producing what we do with the people and communities we serve, building on their strengths and using their insights to drive change. We have a clear focus on tackling inequalities and promoting inclusion. Forward thinking and ambitious, we want to use quality improvement methodology and the best technology to provide excellent quality services, enhancing access and choice. We take our position as an anchor institution seriously, with clear ambitions to be sustainable and to contribute to the wellbeing of our local economy.

We are seeking an individual who shares these ambitions and is able to lead and develop a high performing Board, capable of delivering the Trust’s strategic objectives. The Chair will also ensure the voice of the Council of Governors is strongly reflected in the work of the Board.

As a suitable candidate you will have a strong track record of achievement at Board level. You will be a clear and strategic thinker, with the confidence, credibility and sensitivity to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be a champion for change, able to evidence a commitment to enhancing mental health, learning disabilities and physical health services. Most importantly, you will demonstrate a passion for values-based leadership, with personal and professional values that are aligned to those of the Trust.

You will be joining a strong, experienced and diverse team, who will welcome constructive challenge and an empowering approach. If this sounds like you, we hope you will be encouraged to apply and we look forward to meeting you in due course.
