University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is a large integrated acute and community provider and a major teaching hospital which is a trusted anchor institution at the heart of our communities. Playing an influential and critical role in two integrated care systems, we are an organisation of considerable scale, complexity and potential, and we recognise the important role we can play in supporting the public, patients, our own people and local partners in achieving the best of health for the local population and the communities in which they live by providing Exceptional Care Together.
We are now seeking an exceptional Chair to lead our Board of Directors and Council of Governors. As successor to Dr Kathy McLean, who joins Derby and Derbyshire ICB as Chair, we are looking for a highly capable and credible Board Member who will bring a sustained track record of success in a relevant setting. You will be an effective role model, exhibiting and promoting collaborative leadership behaviours that uphold our values of Compassion, Openness and Excellence, providing strategic vision, high challenge and high support, and stewarding effective governance of our trust.
As Chair, you will make a tangible difference to a large and diverse population. To achieve this, you will offer transferable skills gained as either a Chair or NED/Vice Chair in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity, likely with some exposure to or experience in the NHS. An inspiring, visible and strategic leader with the credentials to Chair an organisation of our scale, during the selection process, we are interested in how your skills and career successes to date will enable you to provide the best possible care to our communities. You must also demonstrate an unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion and showcase how you will role model this at UHDB and across our system.
In this appointment process we are actively seeking candidates from a range of diverse and inclusive backgrounds who offer the Board skills required to take our Trust forward, and your values and ability to inspire and harness the talents of others is critical for us.
This is a significant and impactful opportunity, and if your values and ambition match ours and the opportunity to lead our Board attracts you, then we very much look forward to hearing from you.
