New Hospital Progamme – Technical Director
Salary: Band 9
Contract: Permanent
Location: Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow
Following the formal approval to deliver a brand new hospital on a greenfield site under the national New Hospital Programme, the new hospital will relocate all services from our current site in Harlow Town Centre. We aim to open our new hospital in 2030. Due to this, we are recruiting to a unique new role within our Trust - New Hospital Programme Technical Director.
We provide a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services and employ more than 4,000 staff, serving a local population of around 350,000 with an extended catchment area of up to 500,000. Our new hospital will transform the health of the local population and act as a catalyst for major economic growth in the region.
In addition to building our new world class hospital, we have also launched our strategy PAHT2030, after significant consultation with our people, which includes Transforming our care, our culture, Digital Health and Corporate Transformation.
We also invested £28.4 million in capital infrastructure and equipment in the last year, with key projects including the development of electronic health records, upgrades to infrastructure across estate and ICT and CDC and radiology imaging facilities. With half of the spending funded through our own Capital Progamme.
The Technical Director will lead on the construction and commissioning stages of the development, managing plans in line with the vision and objectives of the New Hospital Programme. They will provide technical expertise in order to lead the delivery of the operational aspects of the Programme, including the development of the design and estate infrastructure for the site and provide solutions for any services identified as potentially moving off site. They will lead on procurement and the work of the design team, the construction partner and other contractors. They will engage well with stakeholders and work with construction partners to achieve the requirements of the brief.
The post holder will need to have proven experience of delivering estates, facilities and capital construction and equipment projects in a healthcare setting. They will have a strong track record in change management and experience of managing specialist construction design. They will share the values of the Trust and place providing the best possible services for patients at the heart of what they do.
The Trust are proud to be an inclusive employer and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
