Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board

Chief People Officer

Attractive VSM Salary

Joined Up Care Derbyshire (JUCD) has a strong record of delivery and improvement. We serve a population of over a million people living in a diverse region with vibrant urban areas, as well as a vast rural landscape.  Our partners include two upper tier local authorities with 8 Borough and District Councils, four NHS Foundation Trusts providing hospital and community-based care, one Out of Hours provider, two Place Partnerships, 18 Primary Care Networks, and a region-wide Ambulance service. We also have residential and care home providers, and multiple voluntary, community and independent sector organisations. Whilst we have made significant progress there is much more that we need to do to tackle health inequalities. Life expectancy in our populations is lower than the national average, with a significant gap in health outcomes and access to care between the most and least deprived areas. At the heart of joining up care is our vision to create strong and vibrant communities. We want to work together to improve outcomes for the people we serve, and to ensure they have the best start in life, to stay well, age well and die well.

We are seeking a forward-thinking and engaging Chief People Officer to join our inclusive and dynamic Board as an instrumental system leader. Building on collaborative relationships with our system partners, you will bring positive energy and drive to accelerate the delivery of our long-term people strategy and the development and delivery of Derby & Derbyshire NHS’s Organisational Development Plan, holding our Board and partners to account as we seek to drive performance and results that demonstrate sustained change. Passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities, you will work supportively with our partners and as a key member of our board; providing assurance and a clarity of priority and purpose.

An experienced board level executive, you will bring a track record of leading change, delivery, and transformation at scale in a complex provider and/or regulatory environment. Whilst NHS experience is not necessary, you should understand the complexities of the health, care, and local government landscape and have experience of working strategically with partners across a system to deliver continuous improvement. Demonstrating a passion and determination for driving high quality and sustainable outcomes, you will also be able to build trusted and credible relationships with a wide range of partners and communities.  This is an excellent opportunity to bring your leadership talents to a strong team and influence the shape of health and social care services, and the wellbeing of our populations for the future.

To find out more, please contact our advising consultants at GatenbySanderson for an initial and confidential discussion: Carmel Bell, Niamh Blair or Emma Pickup on 07917 826639.

Closing date: Friday 1 March

We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all and appointments made on merit. We particularly welcome applications from people who are from groups that are underrepresented at senior levels in the NHS and wider society, and we are a Disability Confident Employer.
