As a globally leading acute, specialist and community provider, Barts Health is embarking on an era defining period of change in collaboration with our partners across the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC), North East London Integrated Care System and beyond. This pivotal period of change will significantly impact the 2.5m people living in east London who look to our huge range of clinical services to provide them with the healthcare they need. Our Group is one of Europe’s largest healthcare organisations, and as Group Director of Strategy and Partnerships and a non-voting member of the Trust Board, you will play a significant role in securing our successful future.
The Group Director of Strategy and Partnerships will spearhead the strategic agenda of our Trust, in addition to working to define and deliver the future of our APC with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will support the development of local place-based partnership to enhance healthcare delivery and address local health priorities. Your leadership will be instrumental in aligning our strategic objectives with operational planning and delivery, ensuring that Barts Health sets the standard in acute, specialist, and community healthcare provision working across our group of hospitals to deliver comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services.
You will have responsibility for large scale strategic programmes across the Trust, including advancing our ambitious life sciences initiative, Barts Life Sciences, in conjunction with Queen Mary University of London. You will lead our commercial function and the Barts Charity programme, have oversight of the redevelopment of Whipps Cross Hospital, and will be our group lead for our engagement with UCL Partners.
We are proud of the impact our c.20,000 staff have on the patients and their families and carers we treat, but also of the role they play developing meaningful relationships across the community, making a tangible impact in partnerships with colleagues in primary care, community, mental health, VCS and more widely. The role we play outside of the Trust is critical, and we believe in the importance of operating as an anchor institution in our community.
Our new Group Director of Strategy and Partnerships will have the rare opportunity to shape the future of health and care delivery for our diverse population as we seek to reduce health inequalities. Key to this will be the further development of Barts Health as an outstanding place to work, with a key focus on inclusion and staff well being.
We are searching for a talented and ambitious leader to join us. You will be committed to valuing our differences and fully advocating, cultivating and supporting an inclusive working environment and living by our WeCare values. You will employ exceptional strategic foresight to articulate a compelling vision for our exciting new era, empowering our committed and talented staff on this journey. You are likely to be a seasoned Executive with a track record of success in an NHS Board level role, showcasing how you have previously led transformational change, demonstrated effective partnership and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders using well developed communication and negotiation skills. Your strategic leadership skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans leading to innovative projects and exceptional roles will be crucial.
The post of Group Director of Strategy and Partnerships at Barts Health represents one of the most significant and impactful roles of this nature across the NHS and we are keen to attract the strongest, broadest and most diverse set of applicants possible. Whether your experience has been gained in strategic, medical, clinical, operational, corporate or system leadership, if your ambition matches ours, we look forward to hearing from you.
We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are underrepresented within Barts Health at a senior management level.
