Job Details
Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH) is a specialist NHS trust providing life-changing reconstructive surgery, burns care and rehabilitation services for people across the South of England. The hospital specialises in conditions of the hands and eyes; head and neck cancer and skin cancer; reconstructive breast surgery; maxillofacial surgery; and prosthetics. In addition, QVH provides a minor injuries unit, expert therapies, a sleep service, and other community-based services. Patients consistently rate QVH amongst the top hospitals in the country for quality of care.
QVH now wish to secure a permanent Chief Nurse (CN), to provide professional leadership of the Nursing, Allied Health professional (AHP) and Healthcare Scientist (HCS) workforce ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, compassionate care for patients and service users. As a voting member of the Board of Directors, the CN will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer to embed clinical leadership across QVH and ensure high quality care remains central to QVHs strategic direction and decision making. This critical role will lead on quality and governance arrangements for infection prevention and control and safeguarding alongside developing a culture that focuses on patient safety, learning, improvement and innovation.
Professionally qualified, the successful applicant will be able to easily demonstrate a strong strategic capability and way of thinking as well as evidence their strong leadership and relationship building skills. Experience of leading a range of complex acute health services, taking responsibility for clinical risk, safeguarding and infection prevention and control alongside a track record of performance improvement and innovation in a complex, acute hospital environment is desirable.
