Our client, Bermuda Hospitals Board (“BHB”) is a progressive and clinically driven provider of health services to the people of Bermuda and a wide range of overseas visitors. Operating from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre, BHB offers comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services to Bermuda’s full spectrum of medical and mental health needs.
The Role:
As a strategic, innovative leader, the Chief People Officer (“CPO”) will lead the People (Human Resources) Directorate in the strategic management of human capital and will work alongside the Executive Team (C-Suite) in providing creative solutions and advice to critical People issues. The CPO will be pivotal in driving and executing the People Plan and aligning it with strategic objectives. This role includes, but is not limited to strategic leadership, executive guidance, operational management, industrial relations, process improvement, talent acquisition and development, the fostering of organisational culture and learning, project management and reporting.
The CPO will also drive and guide the organisation through significant transformation to enhance its people-centric approach, with a view of enhancing the employee experience. The CPO will leverage their expertise in organisational development to foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment in their management of employment legislation, while driving change throughout the organisation that supports a healthy work culture. In tandem with the management of HR Information System, the CPO will develop a comprehensive compensation structure that ensures BHB’s competitiveness in the global healthcare market and will be an advocate for equitable pay.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Industrial and Organisational Psychology
- Ten years of executive leadership experience in a healthcare organisation, or significant experience at Chief or Board level in a complex organisation with greater than 1000 employees
- Certified Human Resources Professional (SHRM/CHRP) or equivalent registration with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Fellowship grade (or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Proven experience as a transformational Senior Leader, including change management, developing and implementing successful Organisational Development strategies, improvement of operational performance/delivery and leading and managing complex, substantial structural or service changes where employee development and engagement are critical success factors
- Extensive experience with developing and implementing workforce/people strategies and leadership programmes, alongside supporting policies and procedures
- Deep knowledge of employment legislation and well-developed negotiating, collective bargaining and employee relations skills
- Experience in developing and implementing pay and reward strategies
- Broad understanding of Bermuda’s healthcare policy context, financial regime, workforce, education and training issues and local working practices preferred
- Highly developed leadership, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate, challenge, develop and engage individuals and teams
- Ability to partner successfully with a wide range of colleagues, across professional and organisational boundaries
- Committed to promoting and maintaining openness, inclusiveness and the highest of professional standards
- Strong commitment to honesty and integrity
