Finegreen are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of a senior infection, prevention and control professional. This is for an initial interim period of 3 months but may extend beyond this. This role will be a hybrid working contract.  

Key responsibilities:
  • Key position within the senior management team, assuming overall responsibility for the expert provision of specialist IPC advice and guidance, for all staff and leaders across the organisation; 
  • Provide day to day leadership, direction to IPC staff, and monitor and implement on-going improvement in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls, and resource constraints;
  • Strategic lead for IPC, providing leadership to operational teams and clinical staff who must deliver Trust services and patient care within IPC statutory requirements and cleanliness standards;
  • Lead on the development of infection prevention and control strategy and plans, ensuring engagement of all staff groups, patients/service users, and external organisation where appropriate;
  • Responsible for delivering improvement in IPC performance, working with colleagues across the organisation to implement change and innovation ensuring the organisation is providing services that ensure infection prevention control practices are embedded, safe and effective;
  • Providing visible professional leadership, networking, and formal & informal education and training with staff and peers in partner organisations to deliver the corporate IPC agenda and influence new ways of working.
The ideal candidate:

Registered Clinician (NMC or HCPC active pin);
Demonstrates knowledge of Infection Prevent Control to Master’s level, achieved through relevant professional qualifications or equivalent level of practical experience in an IPC role;
Management/supervision qualification, or equivalent level of experience providing management and leadership;
Comprehensive knowledge of national infection control policies and guidance;
Strategic and political awareness of infection prevention and control policy/practice across UK healthcare bodies.
