The role
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Chief Nurse to join the organisation as an Executive member of the Board. The post will be a voting member of the Board and will report to the new Chief Executive Officer, Trish Bennett, who will take up the post on the 1 November 2024. Our Chief Nurse will be responsible for the clinical leadership of all nursing, allied health professions, psychologists and social workers.
The person
The Trust is seeking a values driven, inclusive leader to provide professional and clinical leadership. You will have a proven track record in operating at or close to Board level and providing leadership across diverse services; you will be a visible and inspiring communicator. Your focus on strong service user and patient engagement as well as on continuous improvement and learning will support our vision. As a corporate leader, you will need to quickly gain the trust of our Board, staff, Governors, partners, and the communities we serve. Your ability to demonstrate our values as you inspire our dedicated staff and collaborate with stakeholders, will be crucial to driving positive change and reduce health inequalities for those we serve.
The organisation
Mersey Care is one of the country’s largest Trusts providing physical and mental health services, serving more than 1.4 million people across the North West. The Trust provides specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient learning disability, addiction and brain injury services.
The organisation has more than 11,000 dedicated staff providing services from around 230 sites as well as in patients’ homes. With an annual budget of more than £750m, the remit includes the provision of a range of specialist services across wider regions and is one of only three Trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health care.
