Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Chair

Remuneration: £55,000 Per Annum for 2-3 days per week, 3-Year Term

Closing date: 9am Monday 21st October

Do you have experience as a Non-Executive Director or Chair and want to make a difference to the local population we serve?

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an outstanding individual who will offer effective Board leadership at a time of significant opportunity and challenge, locally, regionally and nationally. We are an ambitious organisation, whose vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient, today, tomorrow, and in the years to come. Indeed, this is a particularly exciting time to join our Trust – as part of the New Hospital Programme, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reconfigure health services across North and Mid Hampshire, improve care for patients, and make our services sustainable for the future.

Formed in January 2012, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, serves a population of some 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of west Berkshire, employing around 8,600 staff, and has a turnover of more than £500 million per year. As a Foundation Trust, the board is directly accountable to its members through the Council of Governors who represent the interests of their constituents and influence the future of our Trust.

This is a complex role that will require working closely with our CEO, offering appropriate support and challenge, and ensure the Board fulfils its oversight and scrutiny responsibilities and maintains strong governance arrangements. As well as leading the unitary board, the Chair will also play a key role in our Integrated Care System (ICS) which brings together partners from across our wider system, ensuring positive relationships to deliver collective vision to improve the health and well-being of our diverse population.

Comfortable with political and structural complexity and in operating across organisational boundaries, you will be an authentic and collaborative leader who will quickly develop trust with our high performing teams, and with our wide range of stakeholders and partners.  As such, candidates should have proven board level experience in large scale organisations ideally as a Chair or Non-Executive Director. A deep understanding of key NHS policies and those relating to the wider care sector is essential. We are looking to appoint a Chair who is committed to openness, transparency and compassionate leadership.

Most of all you will share our iCARE values, and ambition to shape high quality health and care services for the future.

All members of the Board will be required to comply with the Nolan Principles of Public Life and meet the NHS Fit and Proper Persons requirements and committed to diversity and inclusion, we seek colleagues as diverse as the population we serve.
