The role

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Chief Nurse to join the organisation as an Executive member of the Board.  The post will be a voting member of the Board and will report to our new Chief Executive Officer, Trish Bennett. Our Chief Nurse will be responsible for the clinical leadership of all nursing, allied health professions, psychologists and social workers.

The person

We are seeking a values driven, inclusive and strategic leader to provide strategic, professional and clinical leadership. At a challenging time for health and social care services, this pivotal role will lead the development and implementation of a clinical strategy that reflects our commitment to quality, best practice, diversity, and inclusion.

Bringing a proven track record in operating at or close to Board level and providing leadership across diverse services; you will be a visible and engaging communicator.  Your focus on strong service user and patient engagement as well as on continuous improvement and learning will support and enhance our vision.  As a corporate leader, you will quickly gain the trust of our Board, staff, Governors, partners, and the communities we serve; offering support, challenge and innovative new thinking to our wider strategic agenda. Your ability to demonstrate our values as you inspire our dedicated staff and collaborate with stakeholders, will be crucial to driving positive change and reducing health inequalities for those we serve.

The organisation

The Trust provides specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient learning disability, addiction and brain injury services.

The organisation has more than 11,000 dedicated staff providing services from around 230 sites as well as in patients’ homes. With an annual budget of more than £750m, the remit includes the provision of a range of specialist services across wider regions and is one of only three Trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health care.

The Trust’s vision is ‘to lead the way in perfect, whole person care that helps people of all ages live healthier lives.’
