Job Details
The client is very interested in applicants who are currently within the NHS in a senior maternity role at Band 8d either as a HOM or Associate Director of Midwifery looking for that next step on their career development as a secondment opportunity. They are also very open to applicants who currently work on an interim basis at this level who are looking for a longer term assignment.
The role is expected to start in April/May 2025 for a period of 12 months. Interviews will be held week commencing the 10th February.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Director of Midwifery will act as the Trust expert on midwifery and maternity issues both internally and externally;
- A key senior leadership position, ensuring excellent quality outcomes and experience for women, birthing people and their families when using Trust Maternity Services;
- Continue to develop and maintain a compassionate and inclusive culture in midwifery and across maternity services. This should be an open and respectful culture where teams are confident and skilled in providing regular, constructive feedback, where issues can be raised and solved openly, leading to improvements for women, their families and for staff;
- Provide expert professional advice to the Executive, Board and partner organisations on midwifery and maternity matters, maintaining an up to date understanding of national policy and best practice;
- Set professional standards, and agree and direct the delivery of safety and quality objectives to continuously improve midwifery and maternity services;
- Actively establish and build a wide range of effective networks, contacts and partnerships within and external to the Trust which are used to inform and influence improvements in service delivery and outcomes;
- Provide effective professional leadership for Midwifery across the organisation at all levels, acting as a visible role model, creating a supportive ethos to empower staff to contribute to the delivery of high quality person-centred care;
- Have a regular presence in clinical areas for observing and assuring standards of clinical practice, communicating with clinical staff and patients to assess and support services and evidence improvements in patient care.
- Registered Midwife with current NMC registration;
- In-depth professional knowledge and experience of Midwifery across acute, community services and midwife led services;
- Clear understanding of the concept and working arrangements of diverse clinical areas;
- High level knowledge of all current issues related to professional Midwifery practice.
